OCCHA's new location on Shirley Road
Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana, Inc. (OCCHA) was established in March of 1972 as a non-profit organization with its principal goals being to identify problem areas in the Spanish-speaking community and to establish programs which would address those problems. The agency is funded by various sources. The staff members will work together to provide the best possible service to the clients. OCCHA is open Monday thru Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:30 p.m., and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. until noon. It is also open evenings and weekends for special events.
Our MissionOCCHA is a non-profit organization located in Youngstown, Ohio which services Hispanics and the community at large in the Mahoning County area. Its mission is to focus on programs of social, economic, educational and cultural needs. OCCHA seeks to improve the overall literacy abilities and quality of life for clients so that they may fulfill their civil obligations, exercise their rights, and operate in a creative and productive manner in society.
ProfileThe agency is governed by a board consisting of 15 members, the majority of whom are elected by the community. OCCHA has received numerous awards and Minority Health, Governor Bob Taft, United Way, Mayor of Youngstown, Mahoning County Commissioners, Ohio Commission Criminal Justice Services, El Nuevo Horizonte Spanish Newspaper, Ohio Arts Council, Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs, National Council of La Raza, Ohio House of Representatives, the Council of the City of Cleveland.
